Rockport man bikes through devastation, flooding to let family know he’s safe
[COURTNEY FRIEDMAN-KSAT12] The eye of Hurricane Harvey overpowered the small city of Rockport over the weekend.
Though most people evacuated before Harvey pummeled their homes, some people like Rockport resident Chris Tackett stayed.
Tackett rode his bike through the devastation and flooding of Harvey to find a way to communicate with his family.
“There’s no service on the map,” Tackett said. “I’m trying to let my family know I’m safe.”
Tackett said he stayed behind to make sure his home, which has been in his family for decades, survived the storm. He said his home will need some serious repairs.
